Top media books and podcasts to catch up on this summer
Editor’s note: we are republishing a version of the note that previously appeared as a special edition of The Fix Media’s flagship newsletter. Subscribe to get everything you need to know about the European media market every Monday, along with monthly special reports.
To honor Europe’s vacation season, we’ve curated The Fix’s past recommendations of stuff you can catch up on – books, podcasts, courses, and even cities.
Let’s start with books. Ranging from most complex to most vacation-friendly, we have three lists for you – Anton Protsiuk’s pick of five books for media managers, David Tvrdon’s summer reading tips on tech & design, and Anastasiia Shevchenko’s take on five best books you can listen to.
There’re only so many books you can handle this summer (probably not many), so let’s take a look at top podcasts and newsletters about media. We have great advice for both – lists of 14 podcasts and 10 newsletters.
If you have more time, you might want to give a try to some free online courses for journalists. Last year Hleb Liapeika gathered a list of five courses on technical skills – Google Earth, geolocation, data journalism and more.
And, if you’re choosing a destination for your next vacation but don’t want to stray too far from the media world, check The Fix’s list of ten best European cities for media startups – from Bergen to Riga.
